Writer's WorkshopFor writing instruction, I follow the Writer's Workshop model of instruction.
Writer's Workshop is an approach to teaching writing that includes a brief mini-lesson, where the teacher does 10 minutes of direct instruction. Then, the majority of writing block offers students the time to be engaged in authentic writing tasks. We will be working very hard this year to help motivate and encourage students to view themselves as real writers and authors. |
SpellingFor spelling this year, we will be using the, Word Study approach. Research has shown that spelling errors often happen in clusters.
During literacy rotations, students will be completing hands-on, spelling activities where they will sort and group words based on their spelling patterns. The word lists and in class activities will be differentiated based off of an initial spelling inventory given at the beginning of the year.
